New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Guards Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Mo Williams of the Charlotte Hornets were named NBA Players of the Week on Monday.
Westbrook has been on an historical tear and didn't slow down in three games last week, averaging 40.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 11.3 assists. He got the last of his four consecutive triple-doubles in a win over Philadelphia on Wednesday and helped the Thunder go 2-1 during the week.
He was the first player since Michael Jordan in 1989 to string together four consecutive triple-doubles. Westbrook was named Western Conference Player of the Month last week after joining Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to average 31 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists in one calendar month while playing at least 10 games.
