(SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets have a good chance at tasting victory when they resume a four-game homestand versus the New York Knicks Monday night at the Pepsi Center.
The Nuggets have lost 21 of their last 25 games and opened the homestand with Saturday's 114-100 loss to James Harden and the Houston Rockets. Harden scored 28 points and the Rockets recorded 23 points on 18 Denver turnovers.
"James Harden is James Harden. He made some big plays," Nuggets interim coach Melvin Hunt said.
Denver received 26 points from Wilson Chandler and Randy Foye chipped in 20 points and seven assists. Ty Lawson posted a double-double of 13 points and 10 assists, and also came down with eight rebounds for the Nuggets, who fell to 13-19 at home and gave up 63 points in the second and third quarters.
The Nuggets have dropped 11 of the last 12 games at the Pepsi Center and will also entertain Atlanta and Golden State on this residency.
New York will kick off a five-game western jaunt Monday against Denver, Utah, LA Lakers, Golden State and Phoenix. It is 4-26 on the road.
The Knicks have lost three in a row and 11 of their last 13 games, including Saturday's 92-86 setback to the Indiana Pacers at Madison Square Garden. Andrea Bargnani scored 21 points, Alexey Shved had 15 and Shane Larkin posted 11 in a losing effort.
Indiana pulled away in the fourth quarter and recorded another win over the Knicks, who lost in Indy last Wednesday.
"We competed from the first minute to the last minute. We came up short, but we're satisfied with the effort," Bargnani said.
New York handed Denver a 109-93 setback on Nov. 16 and allowed only eight points in the second quarter (31-8). The Knicks scored 62 points by halftime and have won two straight and three of the last five games in this series.
The Nuggets, though, are unbeaten in the past six as the host. The Knicks haven't won in the Rocky Mountains since Nov. 8, 2006.
