Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Juventus defender Martin Caceres is set for a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his left ankle in training on Sunday.

Caceres was taking part in a training session ahead of Juve's match with Sassuolo on Monday when he suffered the injury, which the club confirmed will require surgery.

The 27-year-old missed a large part of the season with a thigh injury, limiting him to 10 Serie A appearances. And his latest injury will likely prevent Caceres from playing again this season with Juve sitting eight points clear at the top of Serie A and in the knockout round of the Champions League.
