(SportsNetwork.com) - The start of a four-game road trip didn't go as planned for the Memphis Grizzlies, so they'll take a shot at the Chicago Bulls Monday from the United Center.
Memphis had won two straight and three of four games until suffering a 95-89 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. Jeff Green and Mike Conley scored 20 and 17 points, respectively, and Beno Udrih added 11 points off the bench.
Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were ineffective and combined for 15 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who were blown out in the third quarter to the tune of 33-17. Pelicans star Anthony Davis posted 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyreke Evans scored a game-high 26 points.
"If we want to be a good team, a championship team, we can't play like that," Randolph said. "We're still learning, still got a lot of work to do."
The Southwest-leading Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA with a 44-18 mark and sit second in the Western Conference standings. They are 20-11 on the road and will also visit Boston and Washington on the trip.
Chicago lost both games on a recent trip to Indiana and San Antonio, and dropped a 116-105 decision to the Spurs Sunday afternoon. Spurs guard Tony Parker lit up the Bulls for 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting. That's the same amount of points Chicago gave up on 22 turnovers.
Pau Gasol led the visitors with 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Aaron Brooks had 22 points and Nikola Mirotic netted 19 off the bench for the Bulls, losers in two straight and three of five games.
"We shot the ball much better today ... We turned the ball over (22) times against a very good team like they are, I don't think there is a way you can win it," Gasol said.
The Bulls fell a half-game behind Cleveland for the Central lead and are third in the East standings. Chicago is 20-13 in the Windy City.
After hosting the Grizzlies, the Bulls will visit Philadelphia, Charlotte and Oklahoma City.
Chicago defeated Memphis, 103-97, at FedExForum on Dec. 19 and was led by Jimmy Butler's 35 points. Butler is currently sidelined with an elbow injury.
The Grizzlies are 4-2 in the past six games against the Bulls.
