Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nigel Williams-Goss scored 28 points to lead Washington to a 77-68 upset of No. 13 Utah on Saturday.
Williams-Goss scored 12 of his points in the final 5 1/2 minutes as the Huskies (16-14, 5-13 Pac-12) pulled away. Andrew Andrews added 16 points, while Mike Anderson scored 15 and made 3-of-3 attempts from 3-point range on Senior Day.
Delon Wright led the Utes (23-7, 13-5) with 21 points. Jakob Poeltl scored 18 on 8-of-8 shooting.
After shooting 57.7 percent in the first half, the Utes could not manage the same success in the second. Poeltl's layup at 15:23 put Utah up seven, which was its largest lead of the game, but the Utes would not score over the next six minutes.
As its defense was getting stops, Washington went ahead for good after Anderson scored the final five points of a 9-0 Huskies run.
Jordan Loveridge's 3 ended Utah's drought, but Washington took its biggest lead of the game with a 10-3 run after that. Jernard Jarreau scored five points, and Williams-Goss added a three-point play.
Wright's jumper at 1:44 pulled the Utes within four, 64-60, but Williams-Goss hit a critical 3-pointer at the other end of the floor. Washington hit all six free-throw attempts in the final 31 seconds to keep the game out of reach.
Despite the strong shooting in the first half, Utah led just 36-31 at the break. Neither team led by more than five in the half, and the Utes needed an 8-1 run with seven points from Wright over the final 2 1/2 minutes.
