Florham Park, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Jets re-signed middle linebacker David Harris, the team announced Friday.

The deal is for three years and $21.5 million, with $15 million guaranteed, according to numerous reports.

Harris, 31, has spent all eight of his NFL seasons with the Jets since they drafted him in the second round in 2007, starting all 16 games in each of the last six seasons.

He had a team-high 123 tackles last season, the third consecutive year he reached at least that number. He added a career high-tying 5 1/2 sacks.

The sides reached a deal six days before Harris could have become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

Harris, who signed a four-year, $36 million deal in August 2011, has 884 tackles, 30 sacks and six interceptions in 123 career NFL games, including 116 starts.
