Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Torey Krug and forward Reilly Smith to contract extensions.
Krug inked a one-year deal through the 2015-16 season worth $3.4 million, while Smith is now signed for two years through the 2016-17 campaign at $3.425 million per season.
Krug has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points with a plus-6 rating in 58 games this season, his second full year in the NHL. The 23-year-old netted 14 goals in 79 games last season, becoming the fifth rookie defenseman to reach 10 goals in a season.
In 140 regular-season games, Krug has 25 goals and 48 assists for 73 points with a plus-23 rating.
Smith has 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points while playing in all 62 games for the Bruins this season. He appeared in all 82 games for Boston last season, notching 20 goals and 31 assists for 51 points.
The 23-year-old Toronto native joined the Bruins in 2013-14 after playing 40 goals over parts of two seasons with Dallas. He has 35 goals and 95 points in 185 NHL games.
