Zwolle, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Zwolle ran out to a convincing victory at the IJsseldelta Stadion on Saturday, smashing Cambuur in a 6-1 result.
The hosts took a two-goal lead by halftime thanks to goals from Jesper Drost and Maikel van der Werf in the 29th and 34th minutes, respectively.
Ryan Thomas made it three just after the hour mark, but the remainder of the match belonged to hat trick artist Stefan Nijland, beginning with his penalty kick in the 70th minute.
Mikhail Rosheuvel pulled one back for Cambuur five minutes later, but Nijland ensured the convincing victory by adding goals in the 79th and 88th minutes.
The win lifts Zwolle to fifth place in the Eredivisie table by putting the club on 42 points.
PSV Eindhoven rebounded by a defeat to Ajax by picking up a 3-0 win at Go Ahead Eagles, restoring the club's 14-point lead at the summit.
All three goals came in the opening period as Memphis Depay' league-leading 16th goal, an own goal from Jop van der Linden and Andres Guardado's first goal of the season helped PSV seal the win.
Also on Saturday, Luciano Slagveer netted the lone goal in Heerenveen's 1-0 win at Den Haag while Denni Avdic struck at the death to help Heracles claim a point from a 1-1 draw with Vitesse.
