Chonburi, Thailand (SportsNetwork.com) - Stacy Lewis fired a bogey-free, 8- under 64 on Friday and moved three strokes clear of the field after two rounds of Honda LPGA Thailand.
Lewis, who shared fifth place at this event last year, finished 36 holes at 14-under-par 130. Her total of 130 matched Suzann Pettersen's tournament record, which was set in 2010.
Amy Yang carded a 6-under 66 to move into second place at minus-11. Caroline Masson and Jenny Shin also shot 66. They were joined in third place at 8-under 136 by 2013 runner-up Ariya Jutanugarn and Mirim Lee, who both shot 69 in round two at Siam Country Club.
Cristie Kerr (69), Catriona Matthew (66) and Sandra Gal (66) are tied for seventh place at minus-7.
Yani Tseng, who shared the first-round lead with Lewis and Brittany Lang, managed an even-par 72 and dipped into a tie for 10th at 6-under 139. Lang tripped to a 1-over 73 and is one shot further back at minus-5.
Lewis, the world No. 2, opened with three pars in a row and got on the board with a birdie on the par-3 fourth. She followed with another birdie at the fifth.
The 11-time LPGA Tour winner also birdied the sixth and seventh to make it four in a row. That burst moved Lewis to 10-under.
Around the turn, she converted birdie efforts at the par-5 10th and at the par-4 13th.
Lewis rolled in a 10-footer for birdie at the 16th to push her lead to three. After Yang inched within two, Lewis birdied the par-5 18th to end three clear.
"Well, it got off to a bit of a slow start, but about midway through the front nine there, I kind of caught fire with the putter and started hitting some shots close," said Lewis. "It really was a pretty easy day. I didn't cause myself too much stress. Hit a ton of greens, which is what have to do on this golf course. Just happy with the day."
Yang birdied the first, then traded a bogey for a birdie from the third. She moved to minus-7 with a birdie at the sixth.
The 2013 LPGA KEB - HanaBank Championship winner made eagle at No. 10. After five pars in a row, Yang birdied two of the last three holes to post minus-11.
"I had a chance to go for the green in two and that line wasn't very easy, but I did the best I can do over there and made a good putt for birdie. It was good," Yang said of the 18th. "I am very happy. I've been hitting it good all week and I also made some good putts. Some lucky shots, too."
NOTES: Lewis owns the 36-hole lead for the 12th time on the LPGA Tour ... She won five of the previous 11 times she was in that position ... Dating to last season, Yang has finished in the top-5 in three of her last four events ... Defending champion Anna Nordqvist carded a 2-under 70 to move into a share of 26th at minus-2.
