Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Sacramento Kings revealed Thursday that point guard Darren Collison will be out a significant period of time with a core muscle injury that will require surgery.
The team reported that Collison will have a consultation with Dr. William Meyers at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia on Monday ahead of a planned procedure for Tuesday.
Once that surgery is performed, Collison will be re-evaluated anywhere from 3- to-6 weeks.
Collison had been signed to a multi-year contract back in July worth a reported $16 million over three years. In his first season with Sacramento, the UCLA product posted averages of 16.1 points, 5.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds over 45 contests.
