Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Mavericks have suspended guard Rajon Rondo for Wednesday's contest against Atlanta due to conduct detrimental to the team.
The news comes one day after the four-time All-Star was benched for much of the second half of the Mavericks' 99-92 win over Toronto on Tuesday. Rondo and Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle engaged in a shouting match during a timeout early in the third quarter that prompted his removal from the game.
Since his acquisition by the Mavs from Boston on Dec. 18, the 29-year-old Rondo has posted averages of 9.0 points, 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds per contest over 25 games.
