Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets made a pair of transactions on Wednesday, acquiring forward Jiri Tlusty from the Carolina Hurricanes and placing winger Blake Wheeler on injured reserve.

The Jets will send a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft and a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2015 draft to Carolina.

Tlusty, 26, has 13 goals and 10 assists in 52 games for the Hurricanes. In 396 career games with the Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs, Tlusty has 86 goals and 79 assists.

Jets coach Paul Maurice coached Tlusty for parts of three seasons in Carolina.

Wheeler missed Tuesday's game against Dallas after blocking a shot with his knee last Thursday.
