Lack makes 40 saves as Canucks top Bruins

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Eddie Lack turned aside 40 shots to lead the Vancouver Canucks in a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.

Ryan Stanton and Zack Kassian scored for the Canucks, who have won four of their last five.

"I mean it was a busy night," said Lack. "But it felt like we kept them a lot to the outside. So it was a good overall effort from everyone."

Daniel Paille had the only goal of the game for the Bruins, who had won on Sunday to snap a six-game losing streak. Tuukka Rask gave up both goals on 28 shots in the loss.

"We had lots of shots and scoring chances, but the inability to finish is the only reason that we're sitting here tonight with a loss," said Boston head coach Claude Julien.

Boston needed just 65 seconds to get on the board, as Paille backhanded home a rebound from down low for his second of the season and first in 37 games.

It was the only goal the team scored, though, and Vancouver tied the game just over two minutes later.

Skating down the left wing, Jannik Hansen left a drop pass for Stanton, who blasted the shot past the glove of Rask for his third of the season.

After a scoreless second period, the Canucks went on top at 6:47 of the third period.

Daniel Sedin attempted a pass from the left wing to the front of the net that Rask sticked away. The puck bounced off the right boards and came to the circle where Kassian slapped it home for his ninth of the season.

Game Notes

Vancouver plays in Buffalo to wrap up its five-game road trip on Thursday ... Boston plays in New Jersey on Friday ... Neither side scored on the power play as Vancouver had one chance and Boston four.
