Aberdeen, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Rooney scored on either side of the intermission on Saturday as Aberdeen eased to a 3-0 drubbing of St. Mirren at the Pittodrie Stadium.
The hosts wasted little time finding the back of the net as Rooney opened the scoring after 20 minutes and completed his brace two minutes into the second half.
Mark Reynolds netted the third for Aberdeen to put an exclamation point on the victory, which pulled the club level on points at the top of the table with defending champions Celtic, who will face Hamilton on Sunday.
Elsewhere in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday, Michael O'Halloran scored a pair of first-half goals as St. Johnstone claimed a 2-0 win over Dundee United, while Temitope Ayoluwa Obadeyi netted an equalizer just past the hour mark as Inverness and Kilmarnock played to a wild 3-3 draw at the Caledonian Stadium.
Paul McGinn's tally after 12 minutes held up as the winner to hand Dundee a 1-0 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park, and in Saturday's final SPL fixture Ross County claimed a 3-1 win over Partick Thistle at Firhill Stadium.
