Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayer Leverkusen and winger Karim Bellarabi have agreed on a contract extension that keeps the Germany international with the club until June 2020.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, leading the club with nine goals.
And despite the fact that Bellarabi signed a contract extension this past December, he has extended his stay even further amid reported interest from other clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool.
"I made a giant leap in the current season under coach Roger Schmidt in my development," Bellarabi said on Friday after signing his new deal. "Under his direction and in his system I have become a much better player. I've never enjoyed such trust as Roger Schmidt. I will do everything to repay him and Leverkusen."
Bellarabi made his international debut with Germany in October and he has helped Leverkusen to a place in the top six in the league this season, with the club sitting only two points from a Champions League place.
