Surprise, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals and first baseman Eric Hosmer avoided arbitration on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a two-year contract.

The deal is worth $13.9 million, according to MLB.com.

Hosmer, 25, batted .270 with nine home runs, 35 doubles and 58 RBI in 131 games for the Royals last season. He had a tremendous postseason, hitting .351 with a .983 OPS and 12 RBI in 15 games.

A two-time Gold Glove Award winner, Hosmer has hit .275 with 59 homers and 275 RBI in 570 career games for the Royals.
