Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Blue Jackets activated forward Brian Gibbons off injured reserve and sent him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield on Tuesday.

Gibbons had missed 23 games with a knee injury he suffered in a Dec. 18 game against Washington. He has five assists in 21 games for the Blue Jackets this season.

The 26-year-old Massachusetts native signed with Columbus as a free agent in July. He has five goals and 22 points in 62 career NHL games with Columbus and Pittsburgh.
