Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Ottawa Senators defenseman Marc Methot has signed a four-year contract extension.
The deal is worth an average of $4.9 million per year. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Methot is in his third season with the Senators and has five assists in 17 games this year. He missed the first two months of the season recovering from a back injury.
The 29-year-old Ottawa native set career highs with six goals, 17 assists and 23 points in 75 games last season. He spent his first six years with Columbus and has 15 goals with 75 assists for 90 points in 414 NHL games.
