Lorient, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Clinton Njie netted a late equalizer on Sunday as Ligue 1 leaders Lyon rescued a point with a 1-1 draw against Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir.
With Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille both failing to secure three points earlier this weekend, Lyon entered Sunday with an opportunity to extend their lead to four points over both chasing clubs, but it was Lorient that opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a goal from Jordan Ayew.
But Njie netted the equalizer with 12 minutes to play as the clubs were forced to share the spoils, allowing Lyon to move two points clear of Marseille and PSG atop the table.
The draw leaves Lorient in 16th place on 28 points, two clear of the bottom three.
Also in the French top flight on Sunday, Guingamp claimed its third consecutive victory in all competitions thanks to a 2-0 win over Metz at the Stade Municipal.
Christophe Mandanne and Jeremy Pied netted first-half goals as the win moved Guingamp into eighth place in Ligue 1 with 35 points from 25 matches played.
Finally on Sunday in Ligue 1, Bordeaux won its second straight league contest with a 1-0 victory over Saint Etienne at the Stade Chaban-Delmas thanks to a 42nd-minute strike from Diego Rolan.
