Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Technological advances are at the forefront of proposals being considered by the NCAA Rules Committee for the 2015 college football season.
According to a release from the NCAA, the committee will consider how the use of various technologies would impact the sport. They include the use of tablets and computers by coaches, allowing players to wear helmets with cameras and wireless communication from a coach to a player.
After several conferences proposed experimenting with the technologies, the rules committee formed a subcommittee to further explore them.
"The committee wants to incorporate the modern forms of technology and innovation that will advance the quality of instruction for the game," said Troy Calhoun, the Air Force football coach and chair of the committee. "We would like to encourage some controlled experimentation to further our broader discussion within our membership."
All football rules recommendation will be discussed by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on March 5.
