(SportsNetwork.com) - Now that Gregg Popovich's 1,000th career victory is in the books, the San Antonio Spurs' head coach can continue to focus on executing successful game plans.

Popovich and the Spurs will continue a Rodeo Road Trip Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons at The Palace and the historic achievement was reached in Monday's 95-93 come-from-behind victory over the Indiana Pacers.

The Spurs erased a 14-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter and scored 13 of the final 15 points for the win. Marco Belinelli hit a baseline jumper with 2.1 seconds remaining and San Antonio rebounded from Sunday's loss against the Toronto Raptors in the opener of the trip.

Tony Parker scored 11 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter, Tim Duncan had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Belinelli netted 12 off the bench, none bigger than the shot that clinched Pop's 1,000th win.

"I don't do too much celebrating," Popovich said. "I've been here a long time and I've had good players. That's the formula."

Popovich, who became the ninth coach to reach the milestone, is the third fastest and the second to accomplish the feat with one team. Phil Jackson reached the mark in 1,423 games, Pat Riley in 1,434 and Popovich got there in 1,462.

Success has come with the job for the Spurs under Popovich as evidenced by five NBA titles and also 10 wins in the previous 13 games. The Spurs are 13-12 outside the Alamo City and will visit the LA Clippers, Golden State, Utah, Portland, Sacramento and Phoenix after the All-Star break.

The Spurs are fourth in opponents' scoring at 96.9 ppg and have held the last three teams under 100 points.

Detroit will start a five-game homestand Wednesday versus San Antonio, Chicago, Washington, Cleveland and New York.

The Pistons are 10-17 at The Palace and look to penetrate San Antonio's experienced defense underneath with Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond. They have scored 100 or more points five times in the last six games and recorded a 106-78 beating of the Hornets in Charlotte on Tuesday.

Monroe had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Drummond added 14 points and nine boards, and guards D.J. Augustin and Jodie Meeks scored 18 points for the Pistons, who had a 48-38 rebounding advantage and recorded a 29-14 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

Detroit held the Hornets to under 20 points in three of the four quarters.

"We really didn't come out well defensively but once we got going into the rhythm of the game we got better defensively," said Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy.

Anthony Tolliver scored 16 points in the win. Drummond was a rebound shy of his sixth straight double-double.

Detroit pulled off a 105-104 win at San Antonio on Jan. 6, as Brandon Jennings, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles, scored the game- winning layup with 0.1 seconds remaining.

Drummond had 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Detroit, which is still 4-7 in the last 11 games in this series. The Pistons have won the last two matchups against the Spurs at The Palace.
