Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kris Richard was named the new defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced Monday evening.

Richard replaces Dan Quinn, who took over as head coach in Atlanta.

The Seahawks made three other coaching hires. Micheal Barrow is the new linebackers coach, replacing Ken Norton Jr., who left to become the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders. Former Seattle linebacker Lofa Tatupu was named assistant linebackers coach and Brennan Carroll, head coach Pete Carroll's oldest son, joins the Seahawks as an assistant offensive line coach.

Richard, 35, was the Seahawks' defensive backs coach the past three seasons, helping develop a vaunted secondary featuring Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.
