Another Shula joins NFL coaching ranks

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Shula, the grandson of legendary Hall of Fame coach Don Shula, joined the San Diego Chargers' staff on Monday, being named defensive quality control coach.

Chris Shula was defensive coordinator for Division III John Carroll last season, helping the Blue Streaks to a record of 11-2, while his unit ranked seventh in the nation in total defense and 10th in scoring defense.

Chris Shula is the son of former NFL head coach Dave Shula.

A former linebacker at Miami-Ohio University, Chris Shula began coaching in 2010, spending a year at Ball State as assistant linebackers coach before spending the 2011-13 seasons as an assistant at Indiana University where he worked primarily with the Hoosiers' defensive backs.
