Quito, Ecuador (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seed Feliciano Lopez and eighth seed Victor Estrella Burgos will play in the Ecuador Open final after they won their semifinal matches on Saturday.
Lopez grinded out a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-1) victory over third seed and fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. A power outage resulted in a delay late in the opening set.
The 33-year-old Lopez has a 4-7 record in ATP finals.
Estrella Burgos, 34, became the first Dominican Republic native to advance to an ATP final by beating sixth-seeded Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
Estrella Burgos had a chance to serve for the match at 5-4 in the second set before rain forced a four-hour delay. Bellucci earned a break to knot the set, but Estrella Burgos broke back in the next game before holding at love.
This week's champion will claim $80,000.
