(SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies have won eight in a row and will close out a three-game road trip Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Memphis recorded a 100-90 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, as Marc Gasol scored 23 points.

Memphis tied a franchise record with its eighth straight win.

"We've been defending much better," Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger said of his team's recent surge. "We've got to play with that sense of urgency to accomplish the goals that we want to get."

Zach Randolph added 18 points and 11 rebounds, Mike Conley scored 17 and Jeff Green contributed 13 points in Memphis' 12th win in the last 13 games.

The Grizzlies are 16-7 on the road and will host Atlanta on Sunday.

Minnesota ended a three-game slide with Wednesday's 102-101 victory versus the Miami Heat.

Kevin Martin hit the go-ahead jumper with 41 seconds remaining and poured in 30 points for the Timberwolves, who snapped a six-game home losing streak against the Heat. Thaddeus Young had 16 points and five steals, while Nikola Pekovic and Gorgui Dieng each scored 13 points.

Mo Williams had 10 points and 10 assists for Minnesota. He is questionable Friday with a hip issue.

The T-wolves have two wins in their last 10 games and are 5-19 at home.

Minnesota will visit Detroit on Sunday and dropped a 105-101 decision to Memphis on Oct. 29. The two teams will meet again on Feb. 28.
