Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim avoided salary arbitration with pitcher Garrett Richards, agreeing to terms on a one- year deal.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports over the weekend indicated the contract to be worth $3.2 million.
Richards will enter the 2015 season recovering from a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. He was hurt last August while covering first base on a ground ball in Boston.
The 26-year-old right-hander was 13-4 with a 2.61 earned run average in 26 starts last season. He owns a career record of 24-17 with a 3.66 ERA in 110 games, including 55 starts, since making his major league debut in 2011.
