Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of drunk driving.

According to the Denver Sheriff Department, Lawson also faces speeding and careless driving charges. He was released from jail after posting $1,500 bond and has a court date set for Jan. 27.

The Nuggets released a statement on Friday, saying they were aware of the incident.

"We have been made aware of an incident involving Ty Lawson early this morning," the statement read. "Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time."

KUSA-TV in Denver reported that Lawson was arrested at 1:19 a.m. MT. He was pulled over by police after driving 60 mph in a 35-mph zone and failed a field sobriety test.

Lawson is Denver's leading scorer, averaging 16.7 points in 41 games this season. He is also third in the league in assists, averaging 9.9.
