Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference football teams will play three non-conference games this year.
Norfolk State will take on an FBS opponent in each game.
The Spartans announced a difficult 11-game schedule for new coach Latrell Scott's first season on Thursday, including the FBS visits to Rutgers (Sept. 5), Old Dominion (Sept. 12) and Marshall (Sept. 19).
"We have a very challenging schedule this year, but I know it's one our coaches and players are excited about facing head-on," Scott said. "Playing three high- caliber FBS programs is a tremendous opportunity for our program."
Norfolk State also will play eight MEAC opponents, including four at Price Stadium: Hampton (Sept. 26), North Carolina A&T (Oct. 10), Savannah State (Nov. 7) and South Carolina State (Nov. 14).
The Spartans will face all five teams that shared the MEAC title this past season: North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, South Carolina State, Bethune-Cookman and Morgan State.
The Spartans are coming off a 4-8 record.
