Granada, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Abel Resino has been named the new manager at Granada, securing his return to the club for a second spell in charge.

Resino has been out of work since the summer of 2013 when he left Celta Vigo, and the former Atletico Madrid manager returns after the departure of Joaquin Caparros, who was fired last week.

In his first stint at Granada in 2012, Resino helped the club avoid relegation during a six-month stay, and he will be charged with a similar assignment after signing a contract that runs through the remainder of the campaign.

The 54-year-old inherits a Granada side that sits on the bottom of La Liga having won just two of 19 games in league play, and Resino's first match in charge will come on Sunday at Deportivo with Granada sitting three points from safety.
