Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was released from a day's stay in the hospital  Friday, just in time to celebrate his 73rd birthday.

Ali was admitted to an undisclosed hospital Thursday for treatment of a urinary tract infection.

According to a family spokesman, Ali is now at home - but the spokesman did not specify which of his three homes  -and plans to celebrate his birthday Saturday with family and friends while cheering on the University of Louisville Cardinals basketball team.

The former heavyweight champion was hospitalized last month with what was believed to be a mild case of pneumonia and was released last week.

Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome in 1984, three years after his retirement. This past September, Ali attended a ceremony in his hometown of Louisville for the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards. He did not speak. He also attended the University of Louisville's Oct. 30 football game against Florida State.

The Ali family said in a statement it greatly appreciated the support and well wishes.
