Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Jones stopped 19 shots for his third shutout of the season as the Los Angeles Kings nabbed a 2-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
"We did a good job of checking a pretty high octane offensive team," Jones said.
Anze Kopitar had a goal and an assist while Marian Gaborik also scored for the Kings, who snapped a three-game slide. Jeff Carter assisted on both goals.
Jonathan Bernier allowed just one goal on 19 shots in the defeat for the Maple Leafs, who have lost four of their last five.
"We have to look at the positives, and our game lately has been much better," Bernier said.
The game-winning goal of this game was initially waived off as Kopitar's one- timer from the right circle hit off the camera and came right out of the net.
Play continued for roughly a minute until there was a stop, but once the officials had a chance to review the play it was clear the puck went in and the Kings were given a 1-0 lead just 37 seconds in.
Jones made 11 saves through the first two periods, and made a tough stop on a Daniel Winnik backhander and James van Riemsdyk follow-up rebound 7 1/2 minutes into the third.
Gaborik's marker into the empty net with one minute to play accounted for the final score.

Los Angeles hosts New Jersey on Wednesday ... Toronto plays in Anaheim on Wednesday ... Neither team scored on the power play as Los Angeles had two chances and Toronto three ... Jones has seven shutouts in just 29 career games ... It was the 900th home win in Los Angeles history.
