Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - New Jersey Devils forwards Jaromir Jagr and Tuomo Ruutu are sick and will not travel to Los Angeles for the start of the team's road trip.
The Devils will visit the Kings, Ducks and Sharks on a west coast trip that starts Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Jagr is New Jersey's leading scorer with 25 points in 43 games, having posted nine goals with 16 assists. He has missed just one game this season. Ruutu has five goals and three assists in 43 games.
The Devils also recalled forward Joe Whitney from their American Hockey League affiliate in Albany and sent defenseman Seth Helgeson to the minor league club.
