Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Miller stopped 29 shots and Henrik Sedin scored a pair of empty-net goals in Vancouver's 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Radim Vrbata and Alexander Edler each lit the lamp, and Daniel Sedin had three assists for the Canucks, who won for the fourth time in six games.

"We had a good night on the specialty teams. That was probably the difference," Canucks coach Willie Desjardins said.

Miller moved to 3-10-2 all-time against the Red Wings.

Tomas Tatar scored the lone Detroit goal. Jimmy Howard made 20 saves for the Red Wings, who suffered their eighth loss in 11 games.

"I think the game was a lot closer than it seemed," Howard said. "We did a great job from the get-go. We played a pretty solid road game. If we keep playing like this in the next couple of months we'll be fine."

Edler scored on a blast from above the left circle 1:48 into the second period for a 1-0 lead. The Canucks were on the power play thanks to Henrik Zetterberg's slashing penalty.

Miller, who made 11 stops in the middle period, then stopped Pavel Datsyuk 2:29 into the third. While Detroit was on the power play, Datsyuk had a great chance amongst a scrum of players in front, but Miller was equal to the task.

Howard stopped Henrik Sedin on a short-handed breakaway a minute later.

Daniel Sedin then went to the penalty box for hooking, giving Detroit a 5-on-3 for seven seconds. Vancouver killed off the first penalty, and in the dying seconds of the second one, Stephen Weiss failed on a chance from near the crease.

Miller made a nifty sliding stop through traffic on a shot from the slot from Tomas Jurco with under 12 minutes left.

Vancouver opened a two-goal lead with 9:11 left thanks to a power-play tally. Howard made a sprawling stop on Vrbata's shot from the lower right circle. Vrbata got the rebound and made no mistake by lifting the puck over the fallen netminder.

Howard was pulled for an extra attacker with less than four minutes remaining, and the move paid off when Tatar scored on a shot through a screen set by Justin Abdelkader at the 16:30 mark.

The Red Wings pulled Howard out again with 2:38 left for a sixth attacker, but Henrik Sedin scored with 1:51 left and then sealed the outcome with another goal in the final minute.
