Marrakech, Morocco (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Madrid became the second Spanish club to win the FIFA Club World Cup as the La Liga side cruised to a 2-0 victory over San Lorenzo on Saturday.
The reigning Champions League winners controlled the match and peppered the San Lorenzo goal with seven shots on target in the opening period.
They only managed one goal in the first half, though, and it came from an unlikely source.
Sergio Ramos rose high in the 37th minute to direct a corner kick into the back of the net with a glancing header, putting Madrid in good stead for the second half.
Despite Real Madrid's dominance, the club only managed to grab one more goal as Gareth Bale's shot in the 51st minute trickled into the back of the net.
It was enough to secure the title, helping Real Madrid join two-time champion Barcelona as the lone Spanish clubs to win the competition.
Auckland City FC, meanwhile, finished third in the tournament thanks to a narrow defeat of Cruz Azul.
The two sides were level at one goal apiece after extra time and the New Zealand club claimed the win on penalties, 4-2.
