New Orleans starting cornerback Keenan Lewis was carted from the sideline after apparently injuring his left knee against San Francisco on Sunday.

Lewis tried to limp off the field after his coverage on a deep, incomplete pass intended for Vernon Davis, but could not make it to the sideline. He punched an ice chest while being helped to a trainer's table, where team physicians examined his left leg before helping him onto a cart shortly before halftime.

The Saints announced Lewis would not return and also said reserve running back Edwin Baker would not return after getting a concussion while on punt coverage.

Niners nose tackle Ian Williams had a leg injury and receiver Bruce Ellington injured his ankle in the first half, and the Niners said they would not return.
