Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Richmond quarterback Michael Strauss, a Walter Payton Award candidate, has been sidelined by a fractured left ankle.

Spiders coach Danny Rocco told the Richmond Times-Dispatch the recovery time could be about a month.

Strauss was injured in the third quarter of Saturday's 41-28 victory at Albany when the foot was bent back as he made a tackle following an interception.

The redshirt senior has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for a CAA Football-high 281 yards per game, with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Michael Rocco, the redshirt senior nephew of Danny Rocco, will start Saturday when the 19th-ranked Spiders (4-2, 1-1) host winless Rhode Island. He made 21 career starts at the University of Virginia before he transferred to Richmond last year.

"I feel with Mike (Rocco) here, we should be in good shape here moving forward," Danny Rocco said Monday. "Hopefully, we'll get Strauss back as soon as we possibly can."
