Moon Township, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Morris University football coach John Banaszak announced Wednesday that defensive coordinator Scott Farison has been promoted to assistant head coach.

Farison is his 13th overall season with RMU and eighth as the defensive coordinator.

"Scott's been here for 13 years and absolutely deserves this promotion to assistant head football coach," said Banaszak, who became the Colonials' head coach following Joe Walton's retirement after last season. "He performs many duties that are not in his job description and is definitely my right-hand man. Promoting him to assistant head coach is certainly the next step in his career."

The Colonials have consistently produced quality defenses. In Farison's 11 seasons coaching the defensive side of the ball, the Colonials have led the Northeast Conference in total defense four times and finished among the top 25 nationally in total defense six times.

Farison had spent the past decade as RMU's recruiting coordinator, but as part of the move, offensive line coach Andrew Richardson will assume that role.
