Robert Griffin III will get to sit out the final preseason game after all.
Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden says he will rest his starters Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gruden had considered playing the first-team offense for a series or two because he didn't want Griffin and the starters to end the preseason "on a sour note" after a poor performance Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens.
But the coach said Tuesday that the team had put together "a couple of good days of practice" and that he would stick to his original plan of playing only the backups ahead of the final set of roster cuts.
