Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Broncos kicker Matt Prater will be suspended the first four games of the season, the Denver Post reported Saturday night.
According to the paper, Prater violated the NFL's substance-abuse policy and the offense is alcohol-related. He has been in the league's alcohol program since being charged with driving under the influence on Aug. 12, 2011.
The paper reported the NFL had threatened a one-year ban.
Prater, 30, converted 25-of-26 field goals last season.
