Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Friday in the Bundesliga opener for both sides at the Allianz Arena.

The defending champions got off the mark in the 37th minute through Thomas Muller before Arjen Robben added a second goal shortly after halftime.

Former Bayern man Ivica Olic scored in the 52nd for Wolfsburg with a fine long-range effort, but the hosts held off a late rally to claim three points.

Wolfsburg goalkeeper Max Grun was busy in the first half as he denied Robert Lewandowski on two occasions in addition to making a nice stop on Muller.

However, he was picking the ball out of his own net in the 37th when Robben did some good work on the right wing to get free and deliver a cross that Muller redirected past Grun from close range.

Robben doubled Bayern's edge shortly after the interval when he stole the ball from Wolfsburg's Josuha Guilavogui to start the move which ended with the Dutchman beating Grun in a one-on-one situation.

Wolfsburg answered back within five minutes as Olic found space at the top of the box 20 yards from goal to send a shot over the head of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

Bayern wasted a few chances to pad its lead and Wolfsburg nearly found the equalizer 10 minutes from time when Junior Malanda's shot was tipped onto the crossbar by Neuer, handing him a great chance on the rebound that he wasted from a few yards.
