Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Thursday the career of linebacker DeVonte Holloman appears to be over because of a serious neck injury.

Holloman battled neck issues last year, missing six games because of the problem, and had struggled with the injury again during this preseason.

"DeVonte got information back from the doctors he visited with regarding his neck and it doesn't look like he's going to be able to play football anymore," Garrett said during a media briefing Thursday. "It's in relation to the injury he had last year. I think he had a similar injury this year. They are related."

Garrett wouldn't divulge specifics of the injury, reiterating only that is a neck injury.

Holloman was selected by the Cowboys with a sixth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The South Carolina product started two games last year and notched 14 tackles while also contributing on special teams.
