Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Madrid announced on Wednesday that the club has come to terms on a new contract with midfielder Luka Modric that ties him to Madrid until 2018.

Modric moved to the Spanish capital from Tottenham in the summer of 2012 and has captured the Champions League, Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup during his time in Madrid.

The Croatia international has netted six goals in 106 games for Los Blancos, and his new deal brings an end to any speculation that Modric might be sold in order to offset the big summer spending on Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, who cost the club a reported fee of $140 million combined.

A brief statement from Real Madrid read: "Real Madrid C.F. announces the extension of Luka Modric's contract, linking him to the club for the next four seasons."

The 28-year-old Modric represented Croatia at the World Cup in Brazil, and he is coming off a season that saw him score one goal and record six assists in 34 La Liga matches last term.
