Sao Paulo, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari claimed his first win as boss of Gremio on Sunday as his team secured a 2-0 win at home against Criciuma.
Gremio entered the contest on a three-game losing streak, but the hosts grabbed the lead after 11 minutes when Luan converted a penalty kick after Lucas Coelho was taken down inside the box.
Coelho then found the net himself in the 49th minute with a long-range effort that beat Criciuma goalkeeper Luiz.
Scolari's men still find themselves 11 points adrift of leaders Cruzeiro after the defending champions rolled to a 3-0 victory over Santos this weekend.
Marcelo Moreno was on target for Cruzeiro after 25 minutes thanks in part to some poor goalkeeping from Santos netminder Aranha, while Ricardo Goulart scored his league-leading ninth goal three minutes after the break to double the advantage.
Julio Baptista capped the win with a goal of his own in the closing minutes, keeping Cruzeiro two points clear of second-place Internacional, which edged Goias, 1-0, behind Pedro Pereira's own goal in the 77th minute.

Figueirense rallied for a 2-2 draw with Atletico Mineiro as Cleitinho equalized in the 90th minute, Sport Recife and Atletico PR finished 1-1, while Chapecoense and Vitoria battled to a 0-0 stalemate.
