Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - A Hail Mary at the end of the game was successful for the Cleveland Browns, but their 2-point try failed as the Washington Redskins held on for a 24-23 preseason win on Monday.

With just seconds to play, Connor Shaw rolled out to the left and tossed the ball down the field and into the end zone from 45 yards out. The ball was then tipped into the hands of Emmanuel Ogbuehi to make it a one-point game.

The Browns went for two points and the win, but Shaw was pressured on the roll out to the right and his pass into the end zone sailed high.

Robert Griffin III struggled in the start, going 6-for-8 for 112 yards with an interception and a lost fumble. Kirk Cousins led the Redskins on a pair of scoring drives during his time under center, going 12-for-21 with 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Cleveland rookie Johnny Manziel also struggled in his second game, although he didn't start. He did lead the team to a fourth quarter drive that saw him toss his first touchdown pass of the preseason.

He embroiled himself in a little post-play action during the game as he apparently flipped the middle finger to the Redskins sideline after being forced out of bounds on a play in the third quarter.

Washington is 2-0 on the preseason while Cleveland fell to 0-2.

Griffin fumbled on Washington's first possession, although Cleveland was unable to take advantage of the miscue.

The Redskins' second possession saw Griffin lead the team to the Cleveland 27, but he was picked off by Joe Haden and he took the ball back to the Washington 46.

Again, though, the Browns were unable to take advantage and Griffin again marched his team down the field. Facing a 1st-and-goal at the 3, Alfred Morris took four straight handoffs and nearly got in on the last one, as it was ruled a touchdown from a yard out. Replay, though, showed his knee made contact with the ground before the ball crossed the line and the Browns got the ball back.

With Cousins under center, the Redskins kept making mistakes as he was picked off by Tashaun Gipson and the Browns wound up with the ball at the Washington 15. They only came away with three points, though, as Billy Cundiff punched the ball through the uprights from 29 yards out.

After an exchange of possessions, the Redskins got the ball back with just over two minutes to play in the first half and finally put together a successful drive, with Evan Royster punching the ball in from two yards out to give the team a 7-3 lead at the break.

The Redskins began the second half with the ball and added to their lead as Cousins hooked up with Ryan Grant on a 14-yard score and a 14-3 edge 4 1/2 minutes in.

Cleveland took the lead on a pair of scores as Dion Lewis caught a 2-yard score from Manziel 1 1/2 minutes into the fourth quarter, and Jim Leonhard picked off a Colt McCoy pass and took it 19 yards for a score and a 17-14 lead.

The Redskins tied the game though, on Kai Forbath's 26-yard field goal and took a 24-17 lead on a 30-yard scoring catch by Nick Williams from McCoy with 2:01 to play.
