Golf legend Arnold Palmer gets pacemaker

( - Arnold Palmer underwent successful pacemaker implant surgery on Monday.

The golf legend had the procedure at UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh to correct an abnormal heartbeat, according to his website. He was expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Palmer, 84, ranks fifth all-time on the PGA Tour wins list with 62, trailing only Sam Snead, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan.

The popular golfer stayed overnight in a hospital in March 2012 because of an issue with his blood pressure. That stint caused him to miss the end of his tournament at Bay Hill, where he normally greets players just off the edge of the 18th green.
