Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Harrison was a first-round winner at the Winston-Salem Open on Sunday, a final U.S. Open tune-up.
Harrison was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Jan-Lennard Struff on the hardcourts at Wake Forest University.
In other first-round action, Bradley Klahn beat Noah Rubin, 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (7-5), Robin Haase defeated Benoit Paire 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, Nicolas Mahut downed Blaz Kavcic 6-3, 6-2, Benjamin Becker took out Pablo Carreno Busta 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 and Dustin Brown was a 6-3, 6-2 victor over Alejandro Gonzalez.
This week's top seed is two-time champion and North Carolina native John Isner.
Austrian left-hander Jurgen Melzer beat Frenchman Gael Monfils in last year's final.
