Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Browns signed veteran quarterback Rex Grossman on Tuesday.
The signing reunites Grossman with Cleveland offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. The pair worked together for multiple seasons in Washington.
Grossman, who turns 34 this month, figures to fill the No. 3 quarterback job with Brian Hoyer and rookie Johnny Manziel battling for the top spot on the Browns' depth chart.
The Florida product hasn't played in the regular season since starting 13 games for the Redskins in 2011.
Quarterback Tyler Thigpen was released to make room for Grossman on the roster.
