The New York Jets have signed defensive back LeQuan Lewis and waived linebacker Tim Fugger.

The Jets made the move Tuesday to add depth to their banged-up secondary. Cornerback Dee Milliner is nursing a sprained ankle, Dexter McDougle is out for the year with a torn knee ligament and Dimitri Patterson has been hampered by various leg and foot ailments.

Lewis has been with several teams since signing with Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State in 2011. He spent time in training camp with the Jets in 2012, and was also on their practice squad for a week that season.

Fugger, signed to the Jets' practice squad last December, had been sidelined with a knee injury.
