Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Mesoraco hit a grand slam and a two-run home run as the Cincinnati Reds grabbed a 7-2 win over the Miami Marlins in the finale of a three-game set.
Todd Frazier drew a bases loaded walk to bring in the other run for the Reds, who avoided getting swept and won for a fourth time in their last six games.
Johnny Cueto (14-6) won his fourth straight start and sixth straight decision as he gave up just two runs on five hits with a pair of walks and nine strikeouts in eight innings.
Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee each hit a solo home run for the Marlins, who came into the series having dropped six of eight. Brad Hand (2-4) was tagged four all seven runs on five hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings.
"We came here and won two close games," said Miami manager Mike Redmond. "We went 3-3 on our road trip and now we have a nice, long homestand."
Stanton hit a solo homer in the first and Mesoraco gave a two-run shot in the home half of the first inning.
McGehee's third home run of the season tied the game in the fourth.
In the fifth, Ramon Santiago walked and Zack Cozart singled before Cueto moved them up a base with a bunt. Kristopher Negron then flied out, but Hand walked Jay Bruce and Frazier to force in a run.
Mesoraco then crushed his second home run of the game, this one on a 2-1 changeup for the grand slam and a 7-2 lead.
"You just try to go out there and help the team any way you can," said Mesoraco. "I've been fortunate in that I have a lot of guys on base whenever I come to the plate. I just try to make contact and see where the ball goes."
Stanton nearly had his second homer of the game in the eighth when he led off with a deep fly ball to right that appeared to be headed over the wall, but Bruce made a leaping grab at the wall for the out.
