Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer will both take snaps with the Browns' first-team offense in practice this week.

Coach Mike Pettine said he isn't ready to choose a starting quarterback for Cleveland's second preseason game on Aug. 18 in Washington, but plans to have a regular-season starter set before the third preseason game, Aug. 23 against St. Louis.

Hoyer is listed atop the Browns' depth chart and started Saturday in Detroit. He completed 6 of 14 passes for 92 yards, leading the first-team offense to two field goals in three drives.

Manziel was 7 of 11 for 63 yards while playing most of the second quarter and all of the third. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner drove Cleveland's second- and third-teamers to one field goal in four possessions.

The Browns did not score a touchdown in their 13-12 loss to the Lions.
